Navajo Nation Trust Land Improvement Project

STATUS: COMPLETED

Estimated Project Duration:  Spring 2016

Description from Red Rock Motorsports Club, Inc:

This project is a clean up of a tract of land that is considered a gateway/connector to the Gallup OHV/MX Park.

The land we plan on cleaning is on Navajo Nation Trust Land, namely Phyllis Becenti and Family. Phyllis and her family have been gracious enough to allow OHV access across her land for many years. We as OHV patrons are blessed to have open access to this land, but we understand it can all be taken away if we take it for granted.

Working on TL’s premise of Respected Access is Open Access, we as RRMS constantly push forward for OHV access and we feel this project is worthy of our efforts.  Gallup, New Mexico, is a semi-rural community where many tracks of land are open and off-road opportunities are plentiful. Our first goal is to clean this area and then restrict access via new gates, fencing and use of an OHV cattle guard.

Funding would cover tipping fees, equipment/operator use, personal protective equipment for volunteers and new gates/fencing/cattle guard.

Our outcome will be to first reward Phyllis Becenti and the Navajo Nation for allowing us access to their land, Second, is to reclaim the land to its former beauty. Third, is to strengthen ties between our club, the City of Gallup, McKinley County, North West New Mexico Regional Solid Waste Authority (NWNMRSWA)and the Navajo Nation; a showcase of all entities working towards a common goal.
