A Guide to Safety, Etiquette, and Ethics in Outdoor Recreation
Social Studies Curriculum Grades 3-7
Goal:
To educate students about proper outdoor safety especially related to off-highway vehicle use and instill a strong ethic for the land and trail, such that the future recreationists of Utah are safe, courteous, responsible, and considerate of other trail users and the land.
Objectives:
1. To provide an interactive curriculum about outdoor recreation for third through seventh grade students in Utah, which meets the Core Curriculum standards for social studies.
2. To teach safety, trail etiquette (good citizenship), natural resource protection, and land ethics through activities games and role-plays.
3. To provide an OHV guide for natural resource professionals, teachers, and youth leaders (e.g., 4-H and scouting organizations
